- Additives and coatings for blood collection tubes
IVEK systems are chosen for additives and coatings for blood collection tube applications that require precision fluid dispensing and reliability. When Heparin, EDTA, and other formulations need to be applied as surface treatments in blood collection tubes, IVEK systems dispense volumes from fractional microliters to hundres of millileters with repeatability to 0.1% Coefficient of Variation (Cv). IVEK's Sonicair and linear systems are used for these applications.
- Adhesive, Cyanoacrylate, UV curables, and other glue dispensing
The IVEK precision liquid dispensers are often used for adhesive dispensing where accuracy is demanded. CA, or Cyanoacrylate, usually requires the use of a rinse gland to isolate the adhesive from air or moisture. A separate fluid circuit circulates glacial acetic acid or acetone through a recess in the cylinder wall and prevents curing of the adhesive or binding of the pump in the process. IVEK pumps are also used for bottling cyanoacrylates for a variety of products in different industries. IVEK’s rotary systems are typically used in these applications for repeatability and high speed throughput
- Automotive applications
IVEK systems are chosen for numerous automotive applications that require precision fluid dispensing and reliability. Examples include: filling air conditioning compressors with oil, dispensing liquid crystal display fluids for the new “heads-up” gauges in the windshield glass, filling explosive charges for air bag deployment, and mercury switches for automatic seatbelt tensioners. IVEK’s Digispense 3009 and Multispense 900 are used in these applications.
- Barrel syringe lubricant spraying
IVEK is the leader in atomizing lubricants for barrel syringe coating. This is due to the fine spray and evenly controlled pattern that is inherent with the Sonicair nozzle. The success in automation is due to both the precision of the nozzle combined with the highly repeatable volumetric delivery of our pump heads.
- Biosensor manufacturing
Dispensing nanoliter and microliter volumes with IVEK linear dispensing systems has allowed us to become a leader in biosensor manufacturing. Commonly dispensing volumes that are substantially below the capability of most other dispensing technologies.
- Consumer and personal care products
High-speed production lines for consumer and personal care products were developed to improve yields and greatly reduce maintenance costs. IVEK has been successful in the precision delivery of perfume onto personal hygiene products at 300 parts per minute. Another application involved additions of nutritional fortification into soup cans as they came off the line at nearly 1,000 cans per minute.
- Contact lens dispensing
Contact lens dispensing requires precision bubble free dosing. IVEK Multichannel Rotary, Linear and Multiplex systems are all in current use for this purpose. High yields with monomer are the key to success in contact lens manufacturing. IVEK has been successful in all aspects of lens manufacturing from lens dosing to coatings and mold release treatments.
- Controlled substance dispensing (Methadone and others)
IVEK’s AccuVert is a small volume liquid dispensing system designed for computer-controlled use in drug addiction management clinics. The system is easily integrated with patient management computer programs.
- Cosmetic colors and fragrances
IVEK systems are chosen for cosmetic colors and fragrances that require precision fluid dispensing and reliability. These production grade systems dispense volumes from fractional microliters to hundreds of milliliters with excellent repeatability. IVEK’s rotary systems are used in these applications for their repeatability, low maintenance and high- speed throughput.
- Dental product filling
IVEK fluid dispensers are in use for dispensing a number of dental related products from filling dental amalgams, to denture molding material, to whitening peroxide gels. IVEK’s ceramic positive displacement pumps are extremely abrasion resistant and exhibit zero particulate generation and zero porosity. The seal less design minimizes maintenance issues associated with traditional pump design.
- Diagnostic kit reagent dispensing
IVEK’s Digispense 2000 linear system is used for small volume liquid dispensing in the manufacture of diagnostic test kits. The small volumes are digitally selected through the front panel interface. The 2000 steps of the stepping motor give the system exceptional resolution.
- Electrolyte dispensing for batteries
IVEK pumps are widely used in the precision manufacturing of primary and secondary batteries. The electrolyte filling operation is critical in maximizing battery performance and consistency. Our ceramic piston / cylinder modules are extremely hard and resistant to abrasion, resulting in a system that exhibits little or no wear even after hundreds of millions of cycles. In addition, the ceramics are compatible with most acids and bases. IVEK’s rotary systems are typically used in these applications for repeatability and high- speed throughput.
- Electroplating bath replenishment
IVEK precision pumps provide continuous additions of electroplating bath materials as they are depleted. The rate of replenishment is based upon a control signal obtained from the output of an ammeter shunt or process controller. IVEK’s Replenisher system offers potential savings in material usage and fewer rejects due to the consistence of the metals concentration in the bath. Replenishment rates as low as 0.001ml / ampere-minute up to 9.99ml / ampere-minute.
- Flavors and essence dispensing
IVEK precision pumps are used for adding small volumes of essence oils for food products and flavoring concentrates to larger batch or fed into continuous flow lines to create product varieties. By combining a static mixer and an IVEK Digifeeder, the fragrance oil for a deodorant was dispensed into the base product as a proportion to flow of the base material saving both time and raw material since it eliminated the need to clean the carboy between products. Other examples include peppermint oil precisely added to candy or a lemon scent perfumes dispensed into bleach.
- Food additives
High speed production lines for consumer and personal care products were developed to improve yields and greatly reduce maintenance costs. Food additive applications include additions of nutritional fortification into soup cans as they came off the production line at nearly 1,000 cans per minute. Others examples include fat evenly distributed within product and Vitamin D in milk.
- Fragrance and flavor additions
IVEK systems have been used in a variety of fragrance dispensing applications such as automobile fresheners, candle scents, and personal deodorizing products. The corrosive nature of most of these fragrance liquids make the IVEK ceramic pumps ideal for these applications. Our inert high-density ceramics are unaffected by strong acids or bases and their seal less construction minimizes the need for even routine maintenance. This kind of application usually incorporates our Rotary systems (Digispense 3009 and Multispense 900) due to the high throughput nature in these manufacturing applications.

- Gel cap dispensing
Gel Cap dispensing and Caplet dispensing typically require microliter and low milliliter size doses along with compatible fluid contact parts. Ceramic pumps fit well into this market. IVEK’s single and multiple channel rotary systems are used for repeatable and rapid parts per minute requirements to achieve high throughput.
- Inhaled product dispensing
Accurate dosing is required for Inhalant product dispensing .Both the Multispense and Digispense systems have successfully been used in the manufacture of inhalers.
- Membrane striping for diagnostic kit manufacturing
IVEK systems are used to deliver reagents via membrane striping for diagnostic kit manufacturing. The systems are quantitative and qualitative. This application requires a linear flow profile for constant and continuous delivery. By using our Linear dispensing systems, stripers usually move the membrane under the dispense tips and the fluid transfers to the membrane without physical contact with the dispensing tip. IVEK’s Digispense 2000 and Multispense 2000 can deliver from 0.14ul per second to a maximum flow of 2000ul per second.
- Mercury dispensing for lights and switches
IVEK systems dispense mercury for lights and switches. These applications use very small volumes of mercury, and the fluidic characteristics can be challenging. Typically 10 to 30 nanoliters of mercury are used in Mercury Vapor lamps. Higher volumes are used in mercury switches that take advantage of the conductive and gravitational qualities of mercury. IVEK’s Digispense 2000 linear systems are used for these applications.
- Needle coatings
The IVEK systems have been successful in many needle coating applications. Typically the lubricants are silicone. Small droplet size distribution and consistent delivery are required for these applications. Both our linear and rotary spray systems have been utilized for both continuous and intermittent processes.
- OEM applications
IVEK’s AutoPipettor has been carefully developed to provide life science laboratories and instrument manufacturers with an electronically controlled pipette for routine small volume liquid handling. Four standard volume capacities are 25ul, 62.5ul, 125ul and 250ul. IVEK also offers OEM displacement pumps to accommodate fluid dispensing volumes ranging from sub-microliter through 5ml.
- pH process control
IVEK’s Maintainer is a unique precision fluid metering system that provides automatic continuous set-point control of process variables in chemical or biological systems. The controller is easily programmed by the user and can be interfaced directly with a process monitor instrument such as a pH meter, auto-analyzer or other electrodes in order to provide process control.
- Precision spraying
The IVEK spray systems are used for precision spray applications where control and consistency is required. The high level of fluid delivery used within the system makes it ideal for both R&D and manufacturing. Both stent coating and syringe barrel lubrication treatment require tightly controlled applications of small volumes of fluid.
- Precision stent coating
IVEK spray systems successfully coat Drug Eluding Stents (DES) because of the reliable and consistent drug and polymer delivery exemplified with the ceramic pump heads. The linearity of flow from the pump heads provides and even coating with almost any type of spray nozzle. IVEK systems are interfaced with both air atomizers and ultrasonic heads.
- Pulp and paper processing
- Semiconductor applications
IVEK systems have been used in semiconductor related applications. Examples include: automated placement of Quality Control indicators, dispensing hydrofluoric acid using our optional Silicon Carbide ceramic pump components and board washing with ultra pure water.
- Silicone spray and dispensing for medical devices
IVEK spray systems are the premier choice for spraying silicone. The even and consistent delivery of silicone provides manufacturing with a consistent and reliable method of applying lubricants.
- Sterile or radioactive product dispensing
IVEK ceramic pump modules made from Alumina Oxide or Zirconia ceramics, exhibit excellent properties for sterile applications. The natural crystalline structure of the ceramic displays zero porosity, which insures zero retention and carry-over of one biological agent to the next. Examples of sterile applications include eye-injectable materials, whole blood cell handling, sterile syringe filling, catheter coating and more. With regard to radioactive dispensing, IVEK’s Digispense 2000 linear actuator and pump offers total digital control and can be remotely placed within a protective chamber with the controller safely outside. All functions of priming, dispensing, bubble clear, and purging can be safely handled from a distance.
- Transdermal patch dispensing
Small volume precision liquid dispensing is required for transdermal patch dosing. Both smoking cessation and drug delivery systems have used IVEK’s rotary and linear pumping systems in the manufacturing process. These typically involve the precise dispensing of higher viscosity creams and gels.
- Vial, tube and ampule filling
IVEK systems are chosen for small vial, tube and ampoule filling applications that require precision fluid dispensing and reliability. Typical volumes range from microliters to several milliliters per fill. Examples include: filling diagnostic reagents, to dosing single-use topical medications, adhesives, cosmetic sub-dermal treatments, or alcohol into suture packs. IVEK’s Digispense 3009 and Multispense 900 are used in these applications.
- Whole blood dispensing
IVEK’s ceramic pumps are low shear making them compatible for whole blood dispensing applications. The finish of the ceramics plays an important part in sterilization of the pump with zero residuals. Modifications to the piston can also reduce the surface area to minimize shearing.
